It has been a full on week as its Half Term and this week has seen cold wintry weather in the Alps. The freezing point has been around the 300m point with moderate snowfall. Throughout Switzerland and France many of the resorts have seen a snowfall of around 15cm since the weekend. Austria is expecting around 30cm and in the Tyrol the avalanche risk is now 3/5 on off piste areas, in the north the risk is around 2/5.
If you’re not on your ski holiday now then well done, you have missed one of the busiest weeks of the season so far and one of the priciest! However you can look forward to skiing and snowboarding in the spring and there are some super deals currently around. Check the major websites for all the latest offers remember to add your insurance it’s very important and your ski luggage. If you need to park at the airport then reserve you’re parking in advance or if you are going on a last minute holiday then you must reserve your parking at least 24 hours before you go. This is even more important during the peak holiday times which are February and Easter (Easter is early this year starting Friday 30th March) however if you are a parent with children in your ski party they will most likely be on holiday from 26th March – 13th April so look at the ski deals available around this time.
There are some great ski discounts but be quick because some begin in just 4 days!
In La Plagne ski-in ski-out chalets are offering late deals to parties of 8 or less with a 50% reduction on accommodation. You will need to book your holiday from the 17th February for 1 week this price also includes chalet catering.
The best deal so far is on the 18th February for 7 nights for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children aged 2-10) to Plan-Peisey a lovely catered chalet with an outdoor hot tub included, giving a saving of £1,310 for all 4 people. Ski lessons are also on offer plus child care is available.
A £350pp discount for a ski-in ski-out chalet in Val d’Isère is a super saving however you need to get your skates on as you will travel on the 18th February.
The Val Thorens area is offering an excellent discount starting 17th March it has slashed £150pp off a catered chalet, with no restrictions on numbers.
If you enjoy spa facilities then head to La Clusaz where one of the biggest spas in the northern Alps are offering 7 nights stay in a 2 bedroom apartment for up to 5 people, you need to arrive before the 31st March to take advantage of this offer.
Fancy an outdoor heated pool and sauna after a day on the slopes? Look at La Plagne there are apartments available starting 31st March to kick off your Easter break.
From the 28th – 30th April Val d’Isère is holding its yoga and wellbeing festival where you can base your skiing around the festival, studio apartments in the area are offering excellent rates based on 2 people sharing.
