In recent months, the UK’s indoor ski slopes have provided escapism for the thousands of British skiers who cancelled their holidays.
It is uncertain when holidaymakers will return to the beautiful Alps, with much of Europe currently on the ‘red list’ of the government, so the UK ski slopes could be the next best thing this winter.
It’s an enjoyable day for the whole family, the vast array of dry ski slopes and indoor snow centres in the UK offer the ideal opportunity for a pre-season warm-up, to sample skiing or snowboarding.
The Snow Centre
The Snow Centre has a real 160m snow slope for freestylers, including boxes, rails, and kickers. Lessons are also available for all skills.

Snozone
The Snozone has been built with real snow slopes and new freestyle terrain. For all levels and ages, ski and snowboard lessons are available, and there’s also sledging and ice sliding.

Chill Factore
At 180m, this is the longest indoor snow slope in the UK. Chill Factore offers mogul, ski cross, board-cross sessions, and regular lessons and skiing and snowboarding.

Snow Factor
Scotland’s only real indoor snow slope is 168m in length. There’s also an ice climbing wall, a restaurant and beer hall with a Bavarian theme, and an ice bar.

Snowdome
This leisure complex has a main slope of 170m, two separate slopes for learners, an ice rink, a swimming pool, and a gym. The main slope has freestyle features such as boxes, rails, and kickers, and there is also a snow play area for youngsters, tubing, and tobogganing. Lessons are available for all skills.

Snowtrax
A dry slope with the UK’s largest independent shop and workshop for ski and snowboard retailers is attached. Daily freestyle jam competitions are organized by Snowtrax, open to all skiers and snowboarders with freestyle equipment experience. There’s also an alpine adventure park for children in a woodland area at the bottom of the ski slope.

Ski and Snowboard Centre
The original 90m slopes here, one of the first dry ski slopes in Britain, was built in 1969. Now 100m long, the slope hosts lectures, school activities, and competitions. Including a complete stair package, a rainbow rail, whale tail, box, kickers, and a quarter pipe, the slope has various freestyle features.

Rossendale Ski
The most popular dry ski slope in the North West has 200m and a freestyle park, nursery slope, and quarter pipe. Lessons are available for all skills, and clubs and groups are welcome.

Ski Centre Suffolk
This dry outdoor slope is part of the Leisure Park of Suffolk. The slope is 180m, and there is also a toboggan track. Excellent for skiers and snowboarders of all ages, lessons and courses are available from four years of age and up.

Ski Slope Llandudno
Boasting the longest toboggan run in Britain, the PermaSnow ski slope in North Wales hosts both skiers and snowboarders as well as tubing lessons.

Centre for Plymouth Ski Slope and Snowboard
This centre is accessible from Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset, with three dry slopes on offer, including the South West’s longest artificial slope. For all abilities, private or community lessons are available.

Ski and Snowboard Centre of Gloucester
The middle of this dry slope at the edge of the Cotswold’s offers a main slope of 240m, a recreational/racing slope of 250m, a fun park, a nursery slope of 40m, a giant airbag, and four elevators.

Snowsports Club Norfolk
This is one of the UK’s most crucial member-run ski and snowboard clubs. It is partnered with Special Olympics UK and holds adaptive workshops for people with disabilities on a fortnightly basis. Several events are hosted on the 170m main slope and are open to everyone. Beginner courses on the adjoining slope of the nursery are available.

Kidsgrove Ski Centre
Run by North Staffs Ski Club volunteers at the Kidsgrove Ski Centre. There are two slopes, the main slope for all participants, and a dedicated freestyle slope, which hosts’ Freestyle Fridays ‘every other week. As well as membership options, lessons are available.
