The highest resort in Europe, Val Thorens is lift-linked to arguably the most popular ski area in the world, the Three Valleys. The compact purpose-built resort is laden with skiing holiday apartments with swift lift access. Beginners won’t have to go far, as the best nursery slopes are on the village’s doorstep, with some free lifts for first-timers. Intermediate skiers will be spoilt with an endless choice of runs and terrain to explore. Experts and advanced skiers are rarely given the choice of terrain that they need, because of this they stand to benefit the most from skiing holidays to Val Thorens. Experts should visit the powder fields on the Peclet and Chaviere glaciers. If you fancy a bumpy ride try the mogul black at Cime de Caron, which boasts the best view in the Three Valleys. Snowboarding in Val Thorens

The resort is known for being boarder friendly, with ideal slopes for any ability. There are fantastic long wide red runs around Fond 1, Boismint or the Peclet Glacier. One hot tip is to book a guide to take you up from the Col Chair over to the Col de Gebroulaz and ride down to the Meribel Valley on the amazing Glacier de Gebroulaz run. The park is accessed via the 2 Lac lift which features an excellent boardercross park complete with a 110m long super pipe.

There are a few quality bars, restaurants and clubs in Val Thorens to keep you busy on your skiing holiday. With a mixture of Brits, Swedes and the Dutch, it’s an eclectic mix of people to party with. There are some good shopping centres, all indoors as the resort’s altitude means it can get pretty cold.
